(belated) Merry Christmas!

It’s hard to find time to write when you’re surrounded by family and having an absolutely wonderful time!!  So, here it is Monday morning and I’m just getting around to blogging, checking email, and reconnecting with the digital world…  Here’s a recap of the last few days.

J and I made it safely to his parents’ house on Wednesday just in time for dinner.  The ride wasn’t bad at all (little back pain and the number of bathroom breaks was reasonable), and I was able to do a lot of driving.  Hopefully, the ride back will be as easy.

Thursday, we accomplished our number one goal of the trip – we bought a car!!  I truly think that God had the perfect car for us – the previous owners took very good care of it, the mechanical inspection was spotless, and the price was well within our budget! While I was sad to clean out my old car, I was excited to picture baby Jillian in the backseat of the “new” car.  My parents arrived safely and we enjoyed dinner together with J’s parents… let me just say that Famous Dave’s is so good!

Christmas Eve was spent with my mother-in-law’s side of the family.  We sang Christmas carols, ate good food, and exchanged gifts.  All of Jillian’s aunts and cousins are so excited to meet her.  Nights like those make me want to have a big family – to fill the house with laughter and excitement.

On Christmas, we were with my father-in-law’s family.  The opportunity to spend time with family, celebrating a day so central to our faith (even though it may not have been the exact day Christ was born), was very special.  I was a bit overwhelmed with the thought that in just a few months (weeks, really), we will have a beautiful child to welcome to our family.  We also got a very white Christmas, which is pretty rare in this part of the country.  Thankfully, the main streets were cleaned quickly and we had a warm, toasty house to stay in.

Church was canceled yesterday due to the snow, but in the afternoon, J’s mom hosted a wonderful baby shower for us.  It was as perfect as our other one, and I am excited to share pics soon. Lots of cute clothes – I promise that Jillian will be voted the best-dressed baby ever! 🙂

Overall, we have had a great holiday break… and it’s not over – we still have a whole week away from work! That’s good, because my mind is starting to get cluttered with all the things that we still need to do and buy to prepare for Jillian’s arrival, but that’s a post for another day…

Merry Christmas!
