Today is the first day of getting ready to bring Jillian home.
First things first – the nursery! J and I decided on a color scheme a few weeks ago. We wanted something that wasn’t too pinky or traditional. It’s most important for J and I to love the nursery, since we’ll be spending a lot of time in there. I’m sure Jillian will love the room too. I already ordered the crib bedding set that perfectly captures the color scheme. It is the cutest thing ever! The set seems to be a popular choice because it was out of stock on several websites. So, I won’t put up a picture until it is in my hands! The walls will be a pale teal color, with white trim. J started painting the room today; below are some before and in-progress pictures. Hopefully the project will be finished tomorrow. It is definitely his project, so I am being a very encouraging and supportive pregnant wife. I also get to document the progression; some before and in-progress pictures are below.

While J was applying the first coat, I went to Target and Babies R Us to get some essentials for Jillian (and me!). My friend R has been super helpful in offering advice of the most important things that I need to have before bringing Jillian home. The biggest item is the car seat. We chose the Chicco KeyFit 30 in silver. Both J and I loved the pattern and thought it was neutral enough to use for a boy (if we are blessed with one sometime in the future). I also bought some comfy clothes and supplies to transition from being pregnant to being a postpartum, nursing mom. We already have a few diapers, but I need to order more, plus baby wipes, from diapers.com. After learning that newborns go through 10-12 diapers a day (who knew??), we’ll need LOTS of these.
I feel a lot better now that we’ve started to actually prepare to bring home Baby Jillian. Next up: washing all of Jillian’s clothes and blankets, assembling the crib, getting a changing table, and decorating the room. one.step.at.a.time.
