Some of my pants, skirts, and dresses just aren’t fitting like they did about 6 months ago, so I decided to take action! This week, I added two days of strength workouts to my normal three days of running in hopes of building muscle and burning fat. On Sunday, I did the plyometrics workout from P90X, and Tuesday, I did the chest/back workout.

Talk about soreness!! I can barely lift my arms because my arms, shoulders, back, and chest are so sore from all the push-ups and simulated pull-ups (using tension bands). But, soreness is good. It means I worked some muscles that are used to being lazy.

Becoming leaner will help me fit into my clothes more comfortably. And combined with my speed training and long runs, I will hopefully become faster. My next race is a half-marathon in September, and my goal is to set a personal record (check out my previous race times here). For now, I’ll just wait for the soreness to subside and look forward to a 90-minute massage on Saturday!
